Diptron: Our Flagship Product for Safe Pest Control

What product goes into your home when you book a fumigation? At EcoPlagas, we choose it carefully. Diptron is one of our flagship products for safe pest control in Costa Rica: a broad-spectrum insecticide based on deltamethrin, an active ingredient approved by the European Union with decades of regulated use. We use it against cockroaches, ants, flies, mosquitoes, and other flying and crawling pests, with a safety profile that lets us work with confidence in homes, offices, and businesses when applied according to good practice. Here's why it matters to us, and why it should matter to you.

Why it matters (to us and to you)

EU-approved, with an active ingredient reviewed and approved in Europe. Applied by trained technicians, with clear re-entry times and no surface damage when used correctly. Full transparency: you can request the safety data sheet whenever you want.

What is deltamethrin, and why does it matter?

Deltamethrin belongs to the pyrethroid family: insecticides that act on the nervous system of insects and that, at the doses and uses authorized for indoor and outdoor pest control, have a well-studied safety profile. The European Union regulates biocides (Product-Type 18: insecticides) under Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012; deltamethrin is approved as an active substance under that framework, with its approval expiration date recently extended, which reflects that it meets the required efficacy and safety criteria. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has also reviewed the maximum residue limits (MRLs) of deltamethrin in food; public findings indicate that the established MRLs are safe for consumers when good-use practices are followed. For you, this means we chose an active ingredient that has passed rigorous evaluation in one of the most demanding markets in the world.

Diptron in practice: what to expect

When we schedule fumigation or pest control with products that contain deltamethrin (like Diptron), our team:

  • Follows the dosage and application areas: we use the concentrations and surfaces specified on the label and safety data sheet, achieving control without exceeding what's needed.
  • Tells you the re-entry time: how long you should wait before using the treated area again (bedrooms, kitchen, etc.) depends on the product and the application; we always communicate this clearly.
  • Protects surfaces and belongings: when applied correctly, the product doesn't stain walls, furniture, or floors; in kitchens and other sensitive areas we take extra precautions.
  • Combines it with other measures: the insecticide is one piece of the puzzle; we also recommend cleaning, sealing food and trash, and sealing cracks for better results long-term.

EU approval: what it actually means

For a product to be approved or authorized in the European Union means its active ingredient has been evaluated by ECHA (the European Chemicals Agency) and/or by member states under the biocides regulation. Reviewers look at toxicology data, ecotoxicology, efficacy, and conditions of use. It's not a "marketing seal": it's a legal requirement to be sold as a biocide in the EU. In Costa Rica, EcoPlagas prioritizes products that, in addition to being registered locally, carry that international technical and regulatory backing. That's how we offer pest control that combines effectiveness with a safety profile that lets us feel confident in homes with children, pets, or sensitive individuals, provided re-entry guidelines and the good practices we explain at every visit are followed.

Details that make a difference

  • Broad spectrum: effective against cockroaches, ants, flies, mosquitoes, fleas, and other common household and business pests, allowing for comprehensive treatment when needed.
  • Residual effect: deltamethrin has a residual effect, meaning it keeps working for a while after application on treated surfaces, which helps control minor reinfestations if prevention habits are kept up.
  • Professional formulation: we use the right formulation and concentration for each type of pest and area, based on the product label and our experience.
  • Trained technicians: our staff is trained in safe handling, dosing, and re-entry times; you can ask us at any time about the measures taken on your property.
Summary

Diptron is one of EcoPlagas' flagship products for safe pest control in Costa Rica. Based on deltamethrin (a pyrethroid approved by the European Union), we use it against cockroaches, ants, and other pests with dosing and practices that prioritize both your safety and the treatment's effectiveness.
