Termatrac and iTraker Technology: How We Detect Termites and Pests Without Opening Walls

Do you suspect termites or ants inside the woodwork? The last thing you want is someone breaking open walls or climbing into the attic "to take a look." At EcoPlagas, we're one of the leading companies in Costa Rica using non-invasive diagnostic technology: the Termatrac system and the iTraker device (A5 and Pro models) let us pinpoint pest activity inside wood, walls, and ceilings without drilling or damaging your property. The result: a more accurate diagnosis, a more effective treatment, and less disruption for you.

What this means for you

Inspection without breaking open walls or floors. Detection of termites, ants, and hidden moisture with thermal imaging, radar, and sensors. A clear diagnosis and a report that backs up the treatment. Less time, less disruption, and better results.

What are Termatrac and iTraker?

Termatrac is a brand specializing in pest detection equipment for professionals, in business since 1990. The iTraker is its third-generation device: it combines several technologies in a single tool to give the technician information that used to be available only by opening up walls or making guesses. In Costa Rica, EcoPlagas uses this technology in inspections for termites, ants nesting in wood, and other hidden pests, to offer you a fumigation and pest control service based on evidence, not guesswork.

Technologies we use during the inspection

The iTraker Pro combines several tools that we interpret together during the visit:

  • Thermography (thermal camera): records temperature differences in walls, beams, and ceilings. Termite or ant activity can generate heat, and moisture and galleries also alter surface temperature. This lets us pinpoint anomalous zones without touching the structure.
  • Movement radar: emits low-energy microwaves that pass through wood, drywall, and other building materials. If there's movement inside (termites, ants, larvae), the device picks it up. It doesn't damage the structure or require opening anything.
  • Moisture sensors: moisture favors termites and fungi. We measure direct and relative moisture up to about 40 mm deep to identify at-risk or already-affected areas.
  • Temperature: an ambient temperature sensor and probe to cross-reference with the thermography and radar readings.

The upshot is that, once our technician finishes the inspection, we have a much clearer picture of where the pest is and what's happening, which lets us design a more targeted treatment and explain the findings to you with technical backing, not just "from experience."

Why choose a company that uses this technology

In termite and wood pest control, a wrong or incomplete diagnosis leads to repeated treatments, more cost, and more time. With Termatrac and iTraker:

  • Less disruption: there's no need to break open walls or floors to "confirm" anything; we reduce disruption and damage to your property.
  • More precise detection: we know better where to treat and where not to, which improves the effectiveness of professional treatment.
  • Transparency: we can show you thermal anomalies or readings and explain what they indicate, based on the equipment's data.
  • Reports and follow-up: the iTraker Pro supports cloud logging and reporting, useful for documenting the inspection and the action plan.

EcoPlagas invests in this technology because we believe our clients deserve a serious diagnosis and a treatment applied exactly where it's needed. We're a leading fumigation and pest control company in Costa Rica, not just for our coverage and experience, but because we bring in tools that raise the quality of the service.

When an iTraker inspection makes sense

It's worth requesting an inspection with this technology when:

  • You're already seeing signs of termites (mud tubes, wings, hollow wood) and want to know the extent and the hotspots before treating.
  • You suspect ants inside walls or beams (for example, ants coming out of door frames or ceilings).
  • You're about to buy a property or do a remodel and want a technical assessment of wood pest risk.
  • You had a previous treatment and want to verify the activity has been controlled or locate any residual hotspots.
Summary

EcoPlagas uses Termatrac and iTraker (thermal imaging, radar, and moisture sensors) to detect termites, ants, and other pests inside wood or walls without damaging your property. Accurate diagnosis, more effective treatment, and less disruption. If you suspect hidden pests, request an inspection with our team.
